2019 - Open to the World

For almost 400 years Gothenburg has been open to new influences through its sea-faring and trading history. In 2019 River of Light  focused on the theme of the inclusive City - Open to the World – a place where everyone has a voice, and a right to contribute to its future if we have the courage to embrace the existing rich diversity. ROL was based  for the first time at the World Culture Museum and ran open workshops for the public for the entire Sportlov week in addition to running workshops at ISGR school, Blå Stället, Frölunda Kulturhus and in collaboration with Support Group Network at Restad Gård through the winter months. The lantern procession culminated in a public celebration at the World Culture Museum attracting a huge following.
